25 Killed as Russia Unleashes Largest-Ever Missile and Drone Strike on Kyiv
In an 11-hour assault involving 74 missiles and 496 drones against Kyiv at night, 25 people were killed, and another 85 individuals, including two children, were injured. According to the city’s mayor, the attack was “the most massive attack on Kyiv,” forcing over 52,500 people to take cover in subway stations. This indiscriminate attack demolished a nine-story apartment block, seriously damaged an ambulance station, and totally demolished a Ukrainian Red Cross warehouse carrying more than £1.3 million worth of humanitarian aid. While Russia maintained that this strike was aimed at the military factories of Ukraine as a retaliatory measure following the drone attacks by Ukraine on the Russian energy infrastructure, Ukraine charged Russia of deliberately attacking civilian locations. Following this destruction, President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to his Western partners for more air defense systems, including Patriot missiles from the United States.
